Built for Real Use in Ireland
At Vape-Shop.ie, we focus on how vape systems actually perform in everyday Irish conditions. Temperature, humidity and pressure changes directly affect liquid viscosity and coil saturation.
Nicotine salts are formulated for fast absorption (low pH delivery), allowing effective nicotine intake at lower power levels. This reduces thermal stress on the coil and improves consistency.
We optimise our range around 50/50 VG/PG for pod systems and 70VG/30PG for higher power devices. In colder Irish conditions, higher VG liquids become more viscous, which slows wicking and can impact coil lifespan.
All products are selected to ensure correct interaction between device, coil resistance and liquid composition — reducing issues such as leaking, dry hits and unstable vapour production.
Coil Performance and What Actually Affects It
Coil lifespan depends on liquid composition, viscosity and power level — not randomness.
High resistance coils (1.0Ω–1.2Ω) are optimised for lower power and tighter airflow (Tight MTL draw). They perform best with simpler flavours such as tobacco or menthol. With heavily sweetened liquids, residue buildup (coil gunking) forms faster, reducing capillary efficiency.
0.8Ω coils provide a balanced setup (MTL/RDL hybrid), offering stronger flavour output while maintaining better longevity with modern nicotine salts.
Higher VG liquids (70VG/30PG) are thicker and require efficient wicking. In Irish climate conditions, lower temperatures increase viscosity, which can slow liquid absorption and shorten coil lifespan if mismatched.
High sweetener content will always reduce coil life — the only optimisation is correct matching of coil, liquid and power.
Switching from Disposable Vapes to Refillable Pod Systems
Disposable vapes offer convenience, but refillable pod systems deliver controlled performance and stable output.
Modern pod devices use mesh coil technology, enabling more even heat distribution and improved flavour extraction. A 2ml TPD-compliant pod can deliver more consistent vapour compared to disposable devices with declining battery output.
Using nicotine salts such as Elfliq or Maryliq provides a similar inhale profile (smooth throat hit and fast absorption) with improved consistency.
Devices such as Vaporesso XROS or OXVA XLIM offer stable power delivery and better airflow control compared to disposable devices.
Refillable systems are designed for repeated use cycles, delivering more predictable performance per millilitre of e-liquid.
Technical FAQ
Why does my e-liquid get darker over time?
This is caused by nicotine oxidation. Exposure to air, light and heat gradually changes the colour of the liquid and may slightly affect flavour over time.
What is coil gunking?
Coil gunking is residue buildup caused mainly by sweeteners and flavour compounds. It reduces wicking efficiency, affects flavour clarity and can shorten usable coil life.
Why does my coil burn out quickly?
Fast coil wear is usually caused by a mismatch between liquid viscosity, sweetener content and power level. Thick liquids or heavily sweetened flavours can overload the wick and accelerate degradation.
What liquid works best in pod systems?
50/50 VG/PG liquids usually provide the best balance between capillary flow, flavour delivery and coil longevity in pod systems with higher resistance coils.
Why can 70VG feel different in colder Irish weather?
Higher VG liquids become more viscous at lower temperatures. In practical use, this can slow wick saturation and reduce consistency in setups not designed for thicker e-liquid.
